World Sleep Day is a global awareness event held annually and hosted by World Sleep Society since 2008. World Sleep Day is intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of World Sleep Society and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders. World Sleep Day is held the Friday before Spring Vernal Equinox of each year (exact date changes annually, but always on a Friday). The slogan for 2022 is Quality Sleep, Sound Mind, Happy World. Sleep is a foundational pillar of health, and the quality of your sleep can impact not just your physical energy in the morning but your mental and emotional health, too. Join us this year in promoting quality sleep worldwide. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Born 18 Mar 1911; died 26 Nov 1991 at age 80.

American #biochemist who pioneered the use of #radioactive and #stable #isotopes to #trace #chemical #pathways by which the body creates its own #materials, such as #blood. He discovered the #metabolic pathway by which the #cell #synthesizes #heme (the red substance in #haemoglobin), #vitamin B-12 and related compounds. In 1946, with David Rittenberg, to investigate the path of #glycine in the body, he ingested glycine labelled with atoms of the stable isotope #nitrogen-15, and his blood was analyzed for products containing the tracer #atoms. Hence they found glycine is used to synthesize the #pyrrole rings of #protoporphyrin. Further, he found that red blood cells had a lifespan of about 127 days, which led to understanding certain red blood cell diseases. He continued to study the mechanism of the intermediary metabolism of #aminoacids. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Walter Rudolf Hess was a Swiss physiologist who shared (with António Egas Moniz) the 1949 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for “for his discovery of the functional organization of the interbrain as a coordinator of the activities of the internal organs.” In 1948, Hess devised suitable techniques to implant electrodes in the brains of rats, from which he could locate areas of the brain associated with certain instincts. Through his research, he identified how particular areas of the brain (and especially the hypothalamus) are involved with the functioning of the body's internal organs, and areas associated with autonomic functions such as sleep, hunger or defense mechanisms. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Born 17 Mar 1741; died 6 Oct 1799 at age 58.

English physician who made a classic study of the medicinal use of #digitalis. From his interest in botany, he paid attention to folk remedies used by herb-gatherers, including the #foxglove. The leaf extract was efficacious in use for certain cases of " #dropsy " (#oedema, caused by #heartfailure). He determined the doses safe to use, and published a careful report of his findings in An Account of the Foxglove (1785). His report gave good case histories, including failures as well as successes. Thus he added digitalis as a very useful drug for physicians to use to steady and strengthen #heart action. He was also a mineralogist, and #witherite (barium carbonate) is named after him. He suffered greatly for years from chest disease, probably tuberculosis. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

World Social Work Day recognizes the hard work and dedication of social workers. A global organization of #social #workers comes together for social #justice, human rights, and social development all through the promotion of best practices in social work. Social workers serve many roles in their #communities. They assess their client’s needs and challenges. As advocates, they speak for their clients, getting them access to the resources they need to improve their lives. Social workers also respond to crisis situations. They work in many settings, too. Social workers find positions in medical facilities, child welfare and human service agencies, and #schools. They can also work in #education, #teaching new social workers. World Social Work Day celebrates the achievements of social work globally and locally. It also recognizes the efforts of individuals who’ve chosen social work as a profession. #WSWD #WorldSocialWorkDay #SocialWorkers #SocialJustice #HumanRights #SocialDevelopment #MedicalFacilities #ChildWelfare #HumanServiceAgencies www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

#MultipleSclerosis (MS) happens when one’s #immune system attacks the #nerve cells and renders them unable to properly transmit information, causing #balance issues, weakened #vision, #fatigue, and other unpredictable symptoms. Approximately 2.5 million people worldwide suffer from multiple #sclerosis. The cause is unknown, and there is no definitive cure. However, there are many effective #treatments, so those afflicted with #MS should not lose #hope. This month is all about raising awareness, educating wider society, fundraising, and getting behind those scientists that seek to advance our understanding of MS. Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month was launched by the NMSS in March of 2003 in an effort to coordinate the fundraising and awareness-raising activities of disparate other MS-related groups and individuals with their own. Part of the mission of the month is to help people understand the true scope of MS and to help those with the disease make informed decisions about their treatment and overall health. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Dutch botanist who was one of the first microbiologists to recognize the importance of lactic acid bacteria for food production. He contributed to agriculture, botany, microbiology, chemistry and genetics. In research on gall wasps and the formation of galls (1882) he laid groundwork for the theory of ontogeny in higher plants and animals whereby growth enzymes act in series in a fixed order (1917). Since his father was a tobacco dealer who went bankrupt, he researched the tobacco mosaic virus, which causes a disease of tobacco plants with serious economic impact. He discovered that even after filtering the sap of an infected plant to remove bacteria, the liquid was still able to carry infection to another plant. Thus he knew the disease was not due to bacteria, but by something else in the the liquid, which he called a filterable virus (from Latin word for poison) but which later researchers demonstrated in fact had a particle form. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

When you purchase something, you have a right to know that it’s safe and to be informed about the choices you have. Knowing those rights is what this day is about. If you have ever purchased something and needed to return it, you have exercised your consumer’s #rights. These rights have not always been something that was easily defined or enforced. The organization #Consumers International has been bringing awareness to these rights with World Consumer Rights Day. The day is about mobilizing citizen action groups across the world and if everyone joined in to help in their own #communities, it would come closer to meeting their goals. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

The goal of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is to increase the public's awareness and understanding of people who have mental retardation and other developmental disabilities so that these citizens will have increased access in our communities to employment, education, housing and social opportunities. MR/DD Month offers an opportunity for taking a crucial step toward improving the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities. It is, after all, often attitudinal barriers that affect everyday life for these individuals. By addressing them, those barriers, fears and negative attitudes can be replaced with awareness and understanding. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Paul Ralph Ehrlich was a German #bacteriologist, #hematologist and #immunologist whose pioneering work in #chemotherapy included the discovery of #Salvarsan (arsphenamine), the first effective treatment for #syphilis against the spirochete #Treponema pallidum. His research in the histology of the blood established hematology as a field. Ehrlich also developed new staining methods for #microscopic studies on live tissue. At a time when little was understood about the mechanism of disease caused by bacteria, he proposed the side-chain theory as a chemical explanation of #immunity, the body's defenses against #infection. Though broadly incorrect, the theory nevertheless stimulated further work on the problem. He shared the 1908 #NobelPrize for Physiology or Medicine with Russian bacteriologist, Élie Metchnikoff. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness
