HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Dr Richard Dawkins

Born 26 Mar 1941. English evolutionary biologist and science writer known for his outspoken, but intellectual opinions as an atheist on creationism. His books, beginning with The Blind Watchmaker (1976) have been international best-sellers. In The Selfish Gene (1989), he reformulated the theory of natural selection, though he credits Charles Darwin as being the“ founder of really everything that I do.” In lectures and media appearances, he articulates the lamentable ignorance of the creationists' views in their denial of real-world proofs. Dawkins traces the evidence of evolution through the chemical molecular evidence of genes, which complements the fossil record. In The Selfish Gene, he coined the term meme as the unit of cultural transmission, meaning the unit of imitation and replication of a cultural item in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Born 26 Mar 1973.

Lawrence Edward Page is an American computer engineer who was a graduate student when he co-founded #Google, Inc. with Sergey Brin, while working in the same Ph.D. program. They developed their ideas for the search engine at that time, and established the company in 1998, with financial support from investors, family and friends. Page was the company's president of products. It was so successful that by 19 Aug 2004, the company made an IPO (initial public offering) of shares to raise the capital to grow further. Eventually its worth exceeded that of Disney, McDonals and General Motors combined. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

Purple Day is also known as Epilepsy Awareness Day and it is celebrated on 26 March every year with an aim to raise awareness and curb the fear and stigma attached to epilepsy. Epilepsy is the cause of electrical disturbances in the brain that result in various types of seizures. It is the fourth common neurological condition after migraines, strokes, and Alzheimer's. It can be a confusing situation for a person who does not know what is going on. Nine-year-old Cassidy Megan, from Canada, decided to help raise awareness about those suffering from epilepsy and also to make sure that no one affected feels alone in 2008. She named the idea after the colour of lavender, which is the internationally recognised flower for epilepsy, and in this way, Purple Day was born. In the world, Canada is the only country that officially recognises March 26 as Purple Day through the Purple Act that was implemented on June 28, 2012. It is important to raise awareness about the condition because it can be handled better if it is diagnosed early and treated right. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness

It was established by Pope John Paul II to coincide with the Feast of the Annunciation. Subsequently other countries have initiated official celebrations for the unborn, such as Argentina with the Day of the Unborn in 1998, and Chile with Day of the Conceived and Unborn, Guatemala with the National Day of the Unborn, and Costa Rica with the National Day of Life Before Birth, all in 1999. Nicaragua began observing the Day of the Unborn Child in 2000, the Dominican Republic in 2001, Peru in 2002,Paraguay in 2003, the Philippines in 2004, Honduras in 2005, Ecuador in 2006, and Puerto Rico in 2018.Chile began observing the Day of the Unborn Child and Adoption in 2013. Each year, we commemorate World #Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB #epidemic. The date marks the day in 1882 when #DrRobertKoch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes #TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease. TB remains one of the world’s deadliest #infectious killers. Each day, nearly 4000 lose their lives to TB and close to 28,000 people fall ill with this #preventable and curable disease. Global efforts to combat TB have saved an estimated 63 million lives since the year 2000. The theme of #WorldTBDay 2021 - ‘The Clock is Ticking’ –conveys the sense that the world is running out of time to act on the commitments to end TB made by global leaders. This is especially critical in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has put End TB progress at risk, and to ensure equitable access to prevention and care in line with #WHO’s drive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage. American scientist who co-discovered (1984) the #virus responsible for #AIDS - human immunodeficiency virus (#HIV). The French scientist Luc Montagnier independently found the same virus in 1983, but did link it with AIDS. Gallo developed the HIV #bloodtest. Then health care workers could for the first time #screen for the AIDS virus, both to protect blood #transfusion stocks, and also to permit faster #diagnosis of patients. Gallo continued to research therapies for those infected with HIV. In 1996, he discovered a natural compound - #chemokines - can block the HIV virus and arrest the progression of AIDS. After 30 years at the National Cancer Institute, in 1996 he became head of the new Institute of Virology. www.drbjagadish.com #drbjagadish #masterdoctor #DiabetesClinic #Telemedicine #onlineconsultation #Diabetologist #Odisha #health #awareness
