#WorldTeachersDay is celebrated to #honour #teachers for their accomplishments, efforts, and contribution to society as well as to the lives of their #students.

#UNESCO proclaimed October 5 to be World Teachers' Day in 1994. They chose October 5th because it was on this date in 1966 when a significant step was made for teachers in 1966. A special intergovernmental conference in Paris adopted the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

The theme for this year's World Teachers' Day celebration is “The #Transformation Of #Education Begins With Teachers”. The day is celebrated to focus on the work of the #educators.

Kenyan Peter Tabichi, who has been teaching for 12 years, was recently named the best teacher in the world.
