International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is marked on 13 October every year to celebrate how people and communities across the globe are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the significance of reining in the risks that they face.
The NDRRMP covers four thematic areas, namely, (1) Disaster #Prevention and #Mitigation; (2) Disaster #Preparedness; (3) Disaster #Response; and (4) Disaster #Rehabilitation and #Recovery, which correspond to the structure of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (#NDRRMC).
The theme of #InternationalDayforDisasterRiskReduction 2022 is #EarlyWarning, which is Target G of the #SendaiFramework. “Substantially increase the #availability of and #access to multi-hazard early #warning systems and #disaster risk #information and #assessments to people by 2030,” the target reads.
