Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men.
That is why the Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC), – a national organization committed to men’s health and a leader in prostate cancer screening – is sponsoring Prostate Cancer Awareness Week (PCAW). Committed to encouraging men to take a more proactive role in protecting their health, PCEC has coordinated hundreds of sites across the country to offer free or low cost prostate health assessments during Prostate Cancer Awareness Week. PCEC recommends that men should have a baseline PSA and rectal digital examination test at age 40 and then work with their physicians to determine what the appropriate interval is to repeat both tests. Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test and Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) remain the safest routes to detecting the disease in its earliest stages – when it’s most treatable. www.masterdoctorclinic.com www.drbjagadish.com

The observance gives every person in every country a chance to think about what they are thankful for. Being thankful results in physical, emotional, and many other types of benefits. For example, practicing thankfulness improves sleep, lowers stress levels, and boosts the immune system. Gratitude also reduces symptoms of depression and improves self-esteem. If all that weren’t enough, practicing gratitude enhances social and professional skills. If you aren’t the thankful type, World Gratitude Day would be a great time to start. Not sure where to begin? Simply be thankful for waking up and experiencing a brand new day. Other ways to be thankful include: Consider the source of the food you have in your cupboards. Look to the roof over your head. Having a home to live in, no matter how large or small is something to be thankful for. Jobs than pay our bills, feed our children, and give us a purpose. We often take our health for granted, but it is another thing to be thankful for. The beauty nature provides in sunsets and many other ways every day. Our loyal pets are worthy of our gratitude. As the saying goes, “there is always, always, always something to be thankful for.” www.masterdoctorclinic.com www.drbjagadish.com

This day raises awareness of the cause and severity of Alzheimer’s disease, and it is observed throughout the month in certain countries. Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain condition that gradually deteriorates memory and cognitive abilities, among other things. It is the most frequent cause of dementia in older individuals. It is also a progressive illness that causes brain cells to deteriorate and die. It wasn’t until 1901 that Alois Alzheimer, a German psychiatrist, diagnosed the first instance in a 50-year-old German lady, and the disorder was named after him. Later, in 1984, Alzheimer Disease International was formed, and on their tenth anniversary in 1994, they announced the inaugural of World Alzheimer’s Day, to be marked on September 21, while World Alzheimer’s Month was started in 2012. www.drbjagadish.com

We use International Clean Hands Week (3rd week of September annually) as our pivotal marketing strategy to raise awareness. Remember, we humans are the petri-dish that grow and multiply all seasonal flu, influenza-like illnesses, and even COVID-19. So if we all practiced vigilant hand hygiene and cross-contamination awareness, we would eliminate many preventable respiratory and foodborne infectious diseases.

While typically a lot of reflexologists host special taster events where people can get a free or low cost mini session to see what it’s all about things might be looking a bit different this year as we enter our 2nd WRW during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Open houses, giving presentations, or doing tasters in a high traffic area still might not be as feasible in many places this year with the Delta surge. But don’t let that hold you back. This week is the best excuse to build up some hype and introduce new people to reflexology!

This year’s theme for the International Week of Deaf People is “Celebrating Thriving Deaf Communities”. Deaf communities have been expanding and thriving throughout the years and giving us all strength, now is the time to celebrate their incredible endurance at the local, national and international level. This is an important week for the recognition of deaf people, it is vital for deaf communities and deaf organisations. This falls under the key principle, “Nothing about us, without us!”.

During the third week of September (Sept. 19- Sept. 25 2021), the global mitochondrial disease community will come together to raise awareness for the annual World Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week. Thousands of families face the reality of living with mitochondrial disease. During Awareness Week, MitoAction and mito families from across the globe do their part to educate others about this rare disease. We believe that awareness is important year-round, but highlighting these issues during Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week provides a time for people to come together and display the passion and strength of those working to improve the lives of individuals and their families affected by mito.
