Today is World Disability Day, and as the Director of Masterdoctor Group of Clinics, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the importance of this day and its theme for 2022: "Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World."
One of the key areas where this is particularly relevant is in the prevention of disability associated with diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and can lead to a range of complications, including nerve damage, kidney disease, and blindness.
Preventing disability associated with diabetes is critical to improving the quality of life for individuals with diabetes, and requires a comprehensive approach that addresses both the physical and mental health aspects of the condition.
This includes regular monitoring and management of blood sugar levels, healthy eating, physical activity, and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption. It also involves addressing the psychological impact of living with a chronic condition, such as stress, anxiety, and depression, through the use of therapy, support groups, and other forms of mental health support.
