This year, Dev Deepawali Utsav is being celebrated on November 7. On Dev Diwali, which is observed on the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima, devotees take a holy dip in the river Ganga and light earthen lamps (diyas) in the evening.

Dev Deepawali is celebrated every year on the full moon night of the Hindu calander month of Kartik. The day is celebrated by Hindus by lighting lamps to commemorate Lord Shiva's victory over the 'asuras'.

Dev Diwali is the Diwali of Dev( Diwali of Gods) when all the Gods pay their visit in Varanasi.
